Wanda Mae Hughes, 94 of Beckley, passed away Thursday, January 11, 2018. Born January 8, 1924 in Summerlee, WV, she was the daughter of the late Jim and Daisy Mae Souder Hewlett.
Wanda was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. She loved cooking, sewing and working in her garden and flower bed.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Paul Williams, 2 sisters and 2 brothers.
Wanda is survived by daughters, Rebecca Kessler of Beckley, Paula Sue Vernon and husband Richard Lee of Mooresville, NC; grandchildren, Thomas James “TJ” Kessler and wife KarenLynn of Beckley, Deb Vernon Queen of Mooresville, NC and Dawna Vernon Frailly and husband Doug of Statesville, NC; great-grandchildren, Derek and Kassidy Queen; half sister, Carol Dobson of FL.
A funeral liturgy will be 11:00 am Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church with the Very Rev. Paul Wharton officiating.
Arrangements by Calfee Funeral Home, Beckley.
