VIRGINIA RUTH RICHMOND SKILES CLAY

Virginia Ruth Richmond Skiles Clay, 90 of Flat Top Lake, Ghent, WV died on April 13,2026 surrounded by her loving family. Born January 9, 1936, at Crab Orchard, WV, she was the daughter of William and Helen Richmond. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Virginia was a member of Crab Orchard Baptist Church and the Friendship Sunday School class. She worked at Montgomery Wards, Brownies Service and Stone and Thomas. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Loretta Richmond, her 2 brothers Henry (Esther) Richmond and Andy (Hazel) Richmond. Father-in-law, Clinton Clay and father and mother-in-law, Fred and Madge Williams.

Those left to cherish her memory are husband, Milton Clay, son's Robert (Carolyn) Skiles of Crab Orchard and Clark Clay (Jeffory Carroll) of White Sulphur Springs. Niece Georgia Ruth (John) Miller of Mustang, OK. Beloved grand-daughter Ali Montie of Jefferson, IN.

Services will be held at 2:00 Sunday, April 19, 2026 at Crab Orchard Baptist Church with Dr. Mike Sisson, Dr. David Bush, and Rev. Dewey Lowe. Friends may gather with family from 1:00-2:00. Burial will be at t Calfee Cemetery after service. 

Pallbearers will be Clark Swepston, Todd and Ty Norris, Robert Deck, Phillip Bond and Jim Canaday. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to NOW ministry at Crab Orchard Baptist Church, PO Box 446, Crab Orchard WV 25827 (make check to Crab Orchard Baptist and note NOW Building in memo line) or Hospice of Southern WV. 

A very special thank you to all the staff of Hospice of Southern WV, that have provided exceptional care for Virginia over the last 14 months.
