Velma Marie Cantley

Velma Marie Cantley, born February 16, 1932 at Dry Creek, WV joined her parents in Heaven on June 28, 2018. She passed quietly at the Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston, WV after a brief illness.

She was the daughter of the late Joe and Cressie Cantley. She owned and operated Velma’s Beauty Shop in Beckley for more than 40 years. After retiring, Velma loved to volunteer, spending countless hours for over 22 years at Raleigh General Hospital, Senior Friends, Relay for Life and Walk to End Alzheimers.

Velma is survived by sister Wanda (Eddie) Sergent of Ripley, WV, brothers Charles (Peggy) Cantley of Barboursville, WV and Earnest (Betty) Cantley of Palm Coast, FL, Nieces Melinda Knotts, Angie Keyser, Nephew Charles Sergent. She is proceeded in death by her parents, sister Thelma Marie Cantley and niece Charlene Cantley Clardy.

Funeral Services will be Sunday, July 1, 2018 at 1:30 PM at Calfee Funeral Home in Beckley with Rev. Bill Parker officiating. Entombment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to service. In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to RGH Senior Friends Program, 1710 Harper Road, Beckley, WV 25801.
