Tina Jo Davis

Tina Jo Davis, 62 of Coal City, WV, passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus at the Bowers Hospice House on January 26, 2024, following a courageous third battle with cancer.

She was born on February 22, 1961, in Beckley, West Virginia, to Arthur and Bertha Rakes. She was a 1979 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. Her most recent employment was at Performance Bicycle in Sophia, WV, where she was known by many as a caring friend.

She was preceded in death by her father and is survived by her husband of nearly 45 years, Mark; mother Bertha Rakes of Beckley, WV; brothers Gary Rakes (Sally) of Terrell, NC, Patrick Rakes of Beckley, WV; sisters Diana Herring of Catawba, VA, Rita Svonavec of Beckley, WV; sons Justin (Martha “Janie”) of Beckley, WV and Brandon (Amy) of Fort Wayne, IN; and grandchildren Alaina and Gabriel “Gabe” Davis of Fort Wayne, IN.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Hospice of Southern West Virginia for the care and compassion shown to Tina in her final week.

In keeping with Tina’s wishes, there will be no funeral services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Tina’s memory to Hospice of Southern West Virginia, PO Box 1472, Beckley, WV 25802.
