Sonny Ray Canellas, 55, of Beckley, died Thursday, December 4, 2008 at his residence following a long illness. Born November 30, 1953 in McDowell County, he was the son of the late Joe and Goldie Mayberry Canellas. Sonny was a member of St. Francis deSales Catholic Church and enjoyed country music. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.
Survivors include
6 Sisters: Drema Mariani, Gertrude Hartley and Jackie Hageman of Beckley
Kathleen Addair of Myrtle Beach, SC
Eunice Baty of Georgia
Rosalee Bass of Florida
Brother: Mike Canellas of Virginia
Numerous nieces and nephews including Pamela Lauchengco and Kimberly Canellas
Numerous great-nieces and nephews.
A funeral liturgy will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at St. Francis deSales Catholic Church with Father Chapin Engler the celebrant. A rite of committal will follow in St. Sebastian Cemetery. Friends may call at the Calfee Funeral Home, Beckley from 6-8 p.m. Monday where a scripture prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. led by Deacon Jay Ziolkowski.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
