Sandra Carol Miller (Holt)
January 15, 1943 – May 3, 2025
Sandra Carol Miller (Holt), beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on May 3, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family at the age of 82.
Sandra was born on January 15, 1943, in Sullivan, WV, to the late James William Holt and Nellie Gillespie Cale. She was a proud graduate of Rural Retreat High School, Class of 1962, and spent much of her life sharing her warmth and care with others. Sandra worked as a cook for many years at the Burger House and Accu-Lanes in Sophia, where her delicious meals brought joy to so many. She also dedicated herself to serving as a caregiver, always showing compassion and kindness to those she cared for.
Sandra’s greatest joy in life was her family. She loved them with all her heart, and her home was always a place where love and laughter flowed freely. She is preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Lisa Miller (Howard), as well as her siblings: James “Bill” Holt, Bobby Holt, Barbara Ann Holt, and Shirley (Terry) Norris. Her precious fur baby, Max, also preceded her in death. Sandra leaves behind her cherished siblings Roger (Nancy) Holt, Gary (Stacy) Holt, and Mike Holt. Her cherished daughters: Susie (Mike) Canterbury of Jesse, WV; Lynette (Mike) Darnell of Coal City, WV; and Barbara (Eddie) Doran of Sophia, WV. Her grandchildren, Carrie (James) Avis, Tamra Dillon, Stephanie Dillon (Jordan), Amy (Daniel) Harper, Joshua Darnell (Stephanie), Sasja Canterbury (Randy), Brittany (Brent) Smith, and Courtney (Byron) Gordon were the light of her life, as were her great-grandchildren: Angel, Celia, Legacy, Laurianna, Kayden, Tyler, Alyssa, Kaylee, Caleb, Ben, Joel, Bryce, Braylon, Braylee, Scarlette, Emmett, Piper, Aiden, Eli (Sam) Clay, and her great-great-grandchildren, Grayson and Serenity, as well as several nieces and nephews whom she loved like her own.
Sandra had a passion for life and the simple pleasures that made her smile—whether it was cooking a home-cooked meal, getting a pedicure, or watching her beloved West Virginia Mountaineers on game day. Her spirit was vibrant, and she had a unique way of making everyone around her feel loved and appreciated.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to caregiver Nancy Holt, Jessica Brogan with Hospice, and the CCU Stepdown Staff at Raleigh General Hospital for their unwavering support and compassion during Sandra’s final days.
Sandra’s legacy of love, kindness, and devotion will live on through the many lives she touched. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
