Obituary

Ronald "Ronnie" Gene Acord, 80, of Beckley, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2026, due to a long illness. Born on January 2, 1946, in Cranberry, West Virginia, he dedicated many years of his life to the coal mining industry as a roof bolter before suffering a work related injury in 2004.

Ronnie was a loving husband to his wife of fifty years, Kathy Acord, a devoted father to his children, Amy Osgood, Ronald David Acord, and Richard Acord, and a grandfather to Sofia Osgood and David Keith Acord. He is also survived by his sisters, Alice Cox and Susan Jenkins, and his brother, Robert Acord. Ronnie took great joy in his role as a grandfather or "Poppi" to Sofia Osgood, cherishing every moment spent with his family. Ronnie especially enjoyed spending time hunting with his brother, Robert.

An avid outdoorsman, Ronnie had a lifelong passion for fishing and hunting. In his later years, he looked forward to spending every Friday night fishing at Capt-n-Cliff's Pay Lake, where he created countless memories with friends, especially his dear friend Dell Ray. He attended Faith Community Church, where he found community and fellowship.

Ronnie will be remembered for his sense of humor, storytelling, dedication to his family, and love for the natural world. His physical presence may be gone, but his legacy will endure in the hearts of all who knew him.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, Oather Acord and Jesse Acord, and his sisters Kitty Lusker and Debbie Crawford.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 8, 2026, in the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Sam Peterson and Pastor Jason Lowe officiating. Friends my visit with the family one hour prior to the service.
