Roger Earl Meadows went home to be with the Lord on November 25, 2025, after struggling with several health issues for quite some time.
Roger grew up in Piney View, West Virginia, and spent his entire life there. Roger was given a nickname by his mother, and it stuck through the years. He was known as “Rerun” because his mother was always having to go behind him and pick up things after him.
He enjoyed working outside. He especially loved working with flowers and mowing the grass. He was an avid gardener and always looked forward to the spring of the year when it was time to start planting. You would find him during the winter months looking at seed books in preparation for the gardening season. He loved his cats, especially the ones he called “Mama” and “Jingles.”
Roger came when he could to Grace Community Church, where his brother Everett is the pastor. One year he made it a point to be there for the revival services to support his brother. Due to his many health concerns and work schedule, he was unable to come as often as he would have liked. He gave anonymous gifts to the church over the years.
Roger is preceded in death by his parents: his father, David Meadows, in 1973, and his mother, Christine, in 1996. Those left to cherish his memory are five siblings—two sisters, Karen and Freda, both of Piney View; brother Paul of Maple Fork (who built Roger a ramp for which Roger was grateful); his twin brother Thomas (wife Annette) of Odd, West Virginia; and his brother Everett of Piney View. Also left behind are several nieces and nephews: Ben, Bethanie, Timothy, and Daniel; and great-nieces and great-nephews: Jason, Chase, Logan, Sunnie, Ava, Zayden, Blake, Taylen, and Ella.
Calfee Funeral Home in Beckley, West Virginia, is in charge of the arrangements. Roger will be laid to rest at the foot of his mother’s grave in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be at Calfee Funeral Home on Friday, November 28th, between 6–8 p.m., with family gathering at 5–6 p.m. The funeral will be on Saturday, November 29th, at 1 p.m. at Calfee Funeral Home, with his brother Everett officiating the service. A graveside service will follow.
