Roderick F. Spanbauer, 79, of Beaver, passed away, Sunday, November 4, 2012. Born March 3, 1933 in Boston, MA, he was the son of the late John G. and Agnes Johnston Spanbauer. Roderick was a retired engineer for United Technologies. He was a member of St. Francis deSales Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed golf, crossword puzzles, pets, gardening and bowling. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Theile and a brother, John G. Spanbauer.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita Blevins Spanbauer; son, Paul Spanbauer of Greensboro, NC; sisters, Joan Spanbauer and Teresa Borden of Brighton, MA; brother, Charles Spanbauer of Monroe, CT; nieces, Carolyn Honrado and Connie Hudson; his best friend from childhood, Tommy Burke of Brighton, MA and his friends and caretakers at The Courtyard at Greystone.
A visitation for family and close friends will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at the Calfee Funeral Home, Beckley. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Deacon Jay Ziolkowski officiating. Entombment will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
