Robert F. Mason, II

February 23, 1965 — November 5, 2023

Robert F. Mason, II, formerly of Garden MI passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2023, at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV.  He was born on February 23, 1965, in Pontiac, MI. Robert was the son of Robert F. Mason and Pamela (Mason) Bruce.

Robert possessed exceptional talent as a graphic artist. He created company logos and developed hundreds of comic strips with self-made characters. He had a deep appreciation for history, music, and fast cars. He cherished spending time with his family at Indian Lake where he’d tell endless stories around the campfire, waterski and parasail.

He worked a variety of jobs from cooking at Drifters Restaurant to installing fences for Delta Fence in Escanaba MI.  He then landed a job with CCI Cable Systems where he excelled in scaling poles, installing cable and splicing fiber. His dedication to this job provided him opportunities to travel and eventually settled him in West Virginia where he found solace in the warm southern climate.

Sadly, Robert faced various challenges during the last 15 plus years due to Wernicke-Korsakoff Syndrome. His alcohol addiction directly affected his health and relationships with family and friends.

He is survived by his dad, Robert F. Mason and his mother, Pamela Bruce.  His children, Brittany Mason, Joshua (Kayla) Mason, Logan Mason and Keven Mason.  Also, his two beautiful granddaughters, Emelia and Felicity. His siblings, Rodney (Ann) Mason, Marcy (Kevin) Hall and Richard (Rachel) Mason. In addition, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, brother, Randall Mason & his stepfather, Paul Bruce.

He is deeply missed by all who knew him. May he rest in peace, free from addiction and pain.

The family plans to have a celebration of Robert's life in the summer of 2024.

In honor of Robert's memory, the family suggests making memorial contributions to Hospice of Southern West Virginia at PO Box 1472 Beckley WV 25802-1472 (304-255-6404). Their support has been greatly appreciated during this difficult time.
