Rita Fay Massey Cruise of Coal City, went to her heavenly
home on Friday, October 21, 2022.
Born at Matiland, West Virginia on September 17, 1926
to the late Florence AliceMassey and Hobert Norman.
At the age of 14 whilewalking down the road and she saw
the love of her life Obie Miller Cruise and said to herself
she was going to marry that man. At the age of 16 she
married him and they enjoyed 51 years of marriage and 5 children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Obie Miller
Cruise and her three sons, Douglas Wayne Cruise, Larry
Adrian Cruise and John Leslie Cruise. A grandson Obie
Scott Cruise and her step father, William (Buster) Pauley
who raised her. She attended school in McDowell
county. She was a member of the Coal City Church of
God and had given her life to the Lord at a very early age.
She served in various positions in the churches that she
attended. She loved to quilt, write poetry, sew, and
crochet, and spending with her children and
grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Main and Diana
(Roy) Smith of Coal City. Thirteen grandchildren, 28
great grandchildren, and 4 great, great grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, October
25, 2022 at Calfee Funeral Home, Beckley, WV. Visitation
will be from 11-1 with services begining at 1 pm. Services will
be conducted by Rev. Haskel Salmon and Bishop
Clarence Lee.
The family would like to thank the caregivers that helped
take care of our mother for the past two years. A special
thank you to Hospice of Southern WV for all the help and
support they have provided to Momma and the family.
