Phyllis Christine Barney Allen

Phyllis Christine Barney Allen received her wings on October 26, 2017. Phyllis was born May 2, 1927 in Helen, WV and was raised in Sophia, WV. She was the Salutatorian of the 1945 Class of Sophia High School. She married Albert R. Allen on December 6, 1945.
She was the Office Administrator for Bankers Life and Casualty Insurance for approximately 45 years. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Beckley. She was the Church Clerk until 2011. She was Junior High SS Superintendent, leader of the Ann Judson Guild, member of the Lizzie Lewis Circle and Fellowship SS Class. She was well known for sending cards to folks for birthdays, get well and sympathy. That was her personal ministry to serve the Lord.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Albert Allen Jr; parents Paul Barney and Orva Cottrell Barney; sister, Reva Belle Whalen; brothers-in-law, Eugene Allen, Garland Allen, Ronald Whalen and W. R. Tomlinson and sisters-in law, Ruth Hess Allen and Pearl Nelson Allen and nephew, Thomas Eugene Allen.
She is survived by her daughter Barbara A. Ratliff and her husband, Samuel J. Ratliff of Elkview, WV.

Great –Grandchildren – Samantha Kidwell (Michael) of Beckley, Anna Kincaid (Emory) of Lester; Mike Webb (Chrissy) of Glen Daniel; Austin, Faith and Brittain Ratliff of Lincoln CA and Addison Ratliff of South Charleston.
Great-Great Grandchildren – Mackenzie & Levi Kidwell and Aaiden and Isabella Webb
She is survived by one sister, Jeanette Tomlinson and Jane Marks and Sarah Prohauska who are extended family. She has numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and dear friends.
The family would like to thank the Visiting Angels, Beckley and the staff at Eastbrook Nursing Home and Hubbard Hospice House for their wonderful care they gave Phyllis.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, October 30, 2017 at the First Baptist Church in Beckley with Rev. Doc Adkins and Pastor Danny Kinder officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family from 10 am until service time on Monday at the church.
