Phyllis Jeanette Beckett

Phyllis Jeanette Beckett, 89, of Crab Orchard, West Virginia, passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2025. She was born on February 5, 1936, in Jonben, West Virginia, to Stacey and Eva Dolinger.

Phyllis devoted her life to the children of Raleigh County Schools. She first worked as a cook at Crab Orchard Elementary School, then served as a teacher’s assistant in the school system. She later became a school secretary at Sylvia Elementary and Lincoln Elementary, finishing her career as secretary at Crab Orchard Elementary. Phyllis especially loved her family, church, and her flower gardens. She will be remembered for her kindness, compassion, and her love for her church and her unwavering faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

She is survived by her sons Mike Beckett and his wife Marie of Crab Orchard, and Steven Beckett of Morganton, NC; daughter Susie Beckett of Myrtle Beach, grandsons Michael Beckett of Crab Orchard, Kaleb Beckett of Winston-Salem, Jason Cook of Crab Orchard, and Patrick Blevins of Fayetteville, granddaughter Katie Sutphin and her husband Marty of Midway, and Courtney Boothe of Greensboro; great-grandson Jacob Sutphin; one brother, LeRoy Dolinger of Cleveland, Ohio; and her adored pet Max. She also cherished a very special cousin, Jo Steplowski Harris, who kept her company throughout her illness, as well as many nieces and nephews whom she treasured.

She was preceded in death by her husband Wesley, to whom she was married for 69 years; her parents, Stacey and Eva Dolinger; brothers Clarence, Earl, and Johnny; and sister Pauline.

Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons Kaleb Beckett, Patrick Blevins, Jason Cook, and Michael Beckett.

Services will be held at Calfee Funeral Home in Beckley on Thursday, December 4th. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, with services from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, officiated by The Reverend Dewey Lowe.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, West Virginia.
