Nancy Kay Bennett

Jul 17, 1938 — Aug 2, 2026

Pax, WV

Nancy Kay Bennett, (Grann) age 88, passed away on August 2, 2026, surrounded by love and family. Born in Long Branch on July 17, 1938, she later settled, by a wonderful twist of fate, just a mile down the road, where she enjoyed the last of her years with her grandchildren.

A retired Registered Nurse, Nancy dedicated years of her life to caring for others with compassion and skill. She endured profound loss throughout her life, preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Athylene Bergendahl, her sister, Connie Thompson, her two children, Paula Bennett and Glenn Bennett, her dear husband, Zechariah Bennett, and several extended family members and close friends, but she carried forward with a smile on her face and love in her heart.

Her quiet faith was a cornerstone of who she was, and she found comfort in her daily prayers. She found happiness in watching her great-grandchildren grow, looked forward to her granddaughter’s dinners at the table every night, and never turned down her grandson-in-law's Sunday biscuits.

She had a deep appreciation for the beauty around her, she could name almost any flower, loved watching the birds and their free range chickens, and spent many years creating and fixing things with her sewing skills. She treasured her travels to Florida to visit family and friends, never turned down a good piña colada, and was a strong source of love for anyone fortunate enough to be close to her.

She is survived by her granddaughter Danielle, grandson-in-law Manuel, great-grandchildren Gracie, Maddie, and Lucas, sister-in-law and close friend Sandy, as well as several extended family members and friends who seemed more like family over the years.

A special thanks to the nurses and CNA's at Hospice of Southern WV as well as the Home Health Aides with Adoration Home Health who all gave some relief and comfort to Nancy and the family during the last few months.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the Lewy Body Dementia Association (lbda.org).
