Melba Leah Toler, 84, of Glen Daniel, WV, went to Jesus, Monday, November 18, 2024. She was born July 3, 1940, in Missouri Branch, West Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Taylor and Brookie Marcum Salmons. She was a devout Christian and a member of Truth Assembly Ministries.
Melba wore many hats in her lifetime such as: Sunday school teacher, singer, newspaper ad setter, school bus driver, school cook, store stock crew, cook at Giovanni’s, cashier, caregiver, housekeeper and mentor but her favorite roles were wife, mother and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James and her sons James “Kendall” and Anthony Ray “Tony” Toler, as well as 7 brothers and 4 sisters.
Melba is survived and greatly missed by her family; daughter Pamela Sadzewicz and husband James of Glen Daniel, WV, and daughter in law Brenda Toler of Rittman, OH; 7 grandchildren: Amy (Marcel) Prado of WV, Stephen (Mariann) Sadzewicz of WV, Leah “Nikki” Toler of OH, Casee (Randy) Gibson of OH, Kierston Toler of WV, Brady Sutler of WV and Madeline Sutler of WV; 7 great grandchildren: Ian Gaugler of OH, Colby (Wendi) Sadzewicz of WV, Brooke Sadzewicz of WV; Izaiah Gaugler of OH, George Gibson of OH, Holly Gibson of OH, and A’Nylah Toler of WV; 3 great great grandchildren Aria, Elijah and Maeve Gaugler, all of OH; sister Flossy Perry of OH and niece/sister Sheila Farnsworth of OH; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; and a special group of “family” that lovingly called her “Mamaw and Mom”, (you know who you are).
She had a smile and hug for anyone and she was loved by everyone who met her. Her testimony, that was known and seen by all, was that she loved and served her Savior the Lord Jesus Christ her whole life and talked to anyone about Him.
Special thank you for all the love and care from Mom's caregivers who loved her and she loved them, Rhonda Whitt and Marcel Prado who could make her happy and smile, and then all of the other wonderful women who took part in her care this past year. May God bless you all.
We would also like to thank all of the nurses and staff of Hospice and Bowers Hospice House of Beckley that took such wonderful care of Mom and our family.
In lieu of flowers we suggest a donation be made to Bowers Hospice House of Beckley.
