Lowie Edward Lilly

Lowie Edward “Eddie” Lilly, 74, a lifelong resident of Shady Spring passed away January 26, 2023.  Eddie, to all who knew him, was born on June 28, 1948 to Mildred Gross Lilly and Freddie Lee Lilly who preceded him in death.  Eddie was also preceded by Margaret Ann Hale Lilly, his faithful wife of 52 years.  Eddie is survived by his only daughter Heather Lilly Johnson and favorite son-in-law Rick Johnson.  Other survivors include aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends.

Eddie was a graduate of Shady Spring High School and Concord College.  Eddie worked as a school teacher and social worker before starting his rafting company, Rivers.  Eddie loved the outdoors and was an avid sportsman who rigorously pursued fish, fowl and wildlife seasonally.

Others special to Eddie include his favorite uncle Wink Grose, best friend Doug Elliott, cousin Curtis Jolly and friend Joey Smith.

The family would like to recognize The Villages at Greystone and Hospice of Southern West Virginia for their care and compassion.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date, although friends are encouraged to gather and toast Eddie’s memory and regale their own tales of “Fast” Eddie.
