Lou Reiter

November 17, 1929 — February 8, 2020

Lou Reiter, born in Colorado Springs, CO in 1929, and formerly of Bradley and Prosperity, died quietly in her sleep on February 8, 2020. She was ninety years old.
Lou and her husband Paul served in pastoral ministry, missionary service, and ministry at Appalachian Bible College. At ABC, she mentored women, provided hospitality, and encouraged students and staff. She was a beloved Bible teacher and guest speaker, known for giving wise, Biblical advice. She wrote countless letters throughout her adult life, keeping in touch with people whom she had known in high school and through every phase of life after that.
She lived in the Bradley area for 37 years, only leaving in 2013 to be closer to her daughter. She lived independently at Calvary Homes in Lancaster, PA for some years. More recently, she received excellent care in the nursing unit there.
Lou had chronic kidney disease. When the doctor recommended hospice care in September, she was completely at peace with that decision. She had no fear of death and shared this with others. Her certainty of going to be with her Lord after dying made each day closer to that goal sweeter. In fact, she often woke up in the morning disappointed because she had wished to wake up in heaven!
She is survived by her daughters Kathy Brown and Laura Hannah; her son-in-law John Hannah; five grandchildren and three of their spouses; and three great-grandchildren.
Waiting in heaven to greet her was her Savior, as well as her husband, Paul Reiter, parents, sisters, brother, son-in-law Lyn Brown, and a myriad of friends and family.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on February 22nd at Lookout Baptist Church, 29862 Midland Trail, Lookout, WV. For those who attend, feel free to dispense with black and wear colorful clothing in honor of Lou's love of beauty and as evidence of our joy that she is celebrating her new life in heaven.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Calvary Homes' Benevolent Fund (502 Elizabeth Dr., Lancaster, PA 17601) which supports those in care at Calvary Homes so they may remain on site, regardless of their lack of financial means. This was a fund dear to Lou's heart.
Kathy and Laura wish to extend heartfelt thanks to those who blessed their dear Mother throughout her life.
