Lorine Horton Branham 'lil rene' Mom was born in Slab Fork, WV June 17, 1923 to Alvis and Pansey Hawley Horton. She was raised by her grandparents in Lester, WV after her mother passed away at 23. She married James H. Branham on June 17, 1938. He was coal miner, farmer and pipe liner. Their travels would take them to all parts of the country for many years until they settled back in Lester, WV for retirement where she joined Enon Primitive Baptist Church and settled into a quiet life back in the holler where she was raised on the family farm. She enjoyed tending to her vegetable garden and many flowers. She tended to the family cemeteries until her health prevented her from doing so. She canned her own vegetables and jellies. She loved crafting and listening to music. She cooked for the church services until she could no longer then directed Dennis on how to make the lemon pies and cornbread. Then Michael became the cook of the family. She would also go to lunch everyday at her favorite places and made many friends. She visited her cousin Noel Walton every Wednesday and brought her to church every Sunday. She never missed a birthday or celebration with the family. She was a kind and gentle soul who was loved by everyone. She will be truly missed until we see her again in heaven.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Branham; sons, Jimmy Branham and David Branham and his wife Jody, grandsons, Douglas Pauley and Timothy Fruge'; son-in-law, Jim Weber, brother, Harold Horton; best cousin/friend, Noel Walton.
Survivors include her children, Dennis Branham and Michael Branham of Lester, WV, Janice Pauley of Baton Rouge, LA., Geneva Weber of Creswell, OR., and Lea Ellis and her husband Michael of Prairieville, LA.; grandchildren, Debbie Anthony, Vicki Parria, David Pauley, Daniel Pauley, Melissa Brallier, Darla Block, Dana Weber, Dustin Weber and their husbands and wives. Nephew, Oakey Horton and numerous great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Many beloved cousins and family. Close church family and lots of friends.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 15 in the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Joe Blevins officiating. Burial will follow in the Horton Family Cemetery on Tams Mountain, Sophia, WV. Friends may visit with the family from 6:00 p.m.– 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to service on Saturday.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Enon Primitive Baptist Church.
