Lee Ann Lehman

June 16, 1962 — December 28, 2023

Lee Ann Lehman, 61, left this earth to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday December 28, 2023.
Born June 16, 1962, in Jacksonville FL to loving parents Claude and Marjorie Shumate. She grew up in Glen Fork, WV, was her class Valedictorian at Glen Rogers High School, and graduated from Bob Jones University with a degree in Elementary Education.  She taught at Centre County Christian Academy in Bellefonte, PA, homeschooled five children, and later taught and worked in various administrative roles such as elementary principal and board member at Greater Beckley Christian School in Prosperity WV.
Lee Ann accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at age nine and actively served Him the rest of her life. She walked side-by-side with her Creator, and actively demonstrated to those around her the value of faithfulness and gratitude through good times and bad.  It was commonly believed that she held a special, direct line of communication with God, and she used her consistent prayer life to lift up those around her. She leaves behind multiple worn down Bibles, all filled with handwritten notes of the words God spoke to her through all the seasons of life she walked.  She played piano and organ for Glen Fork Baptist Temple, worked with the youth ministry at Calvary Bible Church, Centre Hall PA, and most recently served in the Olympian program at Faith Baptist Church, Prosperity, WV.  She was also dedicated to serving in the Children’s Ministry at Faith Baptist Church, both on Sundays and Wednesdays throughout the year and Vacation Bible School during the summers.
Lee Ann was married to the love of her life, for 39 years. They took pride in establishing a firm foundation for the family they would eventually build. Together, they took a piece of wooded land and turned it into a destination home to be shared by their future generations. Lee Ann found joy in the adventures she shared with her husband: travelling abroad, building something new on the land that she loved, ATV and motorcycle riding to remote places, camping, and spontaneous weekend getaways. Lee Ann never passed up an opportunity to have a good laugh with her husband, especially if it was at his expense!
Lee Ann found beauty in the simplicity of life: the glow of a fire, the intricate shapes of stone, the birds conversing at the bird feeder, a light dusting of snow, the dance of the leaves falling from the trees, the songs made by the flow of a creek, or simply watching the rising and setting of the sun from her front porch swing.
Lee Ann’s greatest love was her family. She was tirelessly dedicated to the health, growth, and unity of those she loved.  She made herself a personal cheerleader to each of her children and grandchildren and found her joy in the successes and milestones shared with them. Lee Ann is preceded in death by her father, Claude Shumate. Lee Ann is survived by her mother Marjorie Shumate of Glen Fork, WV; her devoted husband Douglas Lehman;  sister, Lorri and her husband Charles Boothe of Kitts Hill, OH; son, Kyle and wife Jessica of Summersville, WV; son Galen and wife Kaitlynn of North Augusta, SC; son Dane of Huntington, WV; son Ethan of Beckley, WV; daughter Janalee and husband Nathan Schell of Greeneville, TN; six grandchildren: Caden, Noah, Lillian, Branson, Scarlett and Leah (due in the Spring of 2024).
A Memorial service will be held at Faith Baptist Church, Prosperity WV to celebrate the life and legacy of Lee Ann on Saturday, January 13th at 1:00 pm.  Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service. At the conclusion of the service, those who wish to share stories of how Lee Ann impacted their lives will be given the opportunity.
