Kaitlin M. McAlister, 34, of Charleroi and Beckley, WV passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at Ruby Memorial Hospital. Born on July 7, 1991, she was the daughter of Bert and Maggie (Smith) McAlister, of Charleroi.
She was Methodist by faith and was a graduate of Charleroi Area High School, where she played basketball and track, and earned her degrees from Seton Hill University and IUP and was currently working towards her administration papers through Marshall University. Ms. McAlister was currently a Mathematics teacher at Woodrow Wilson High School in Beckley, WV., where she was very involved in the lives of her students, whether it be in the classroom, on the field, or in the community. Kaitlin was a huge Steeler's fan and she loved to sing. She was currently an officer (Secretary) at the Charleroi Russian Club and a member of the Charleroi Italian Club.
In addition to her parents, Kaitlin is survived by her aunts, Sara (Larry) Phillips, Frances Bujanowski, LaVerne (Gary) Cozakos, Debbie Steinmeyer, Tina (Alan) Traweek and Donna Smith; uncle, Stuart (Cris) Smith; numerous cousins and close friends; and her cat, Midnight.
She is predeceased by aunts, Susie Dezarn, Linda McAlister and Debbie Jobes; uncles, Chesney Smith, Brian Smith and Brian McAlister; and her very special grandmother, Margaret Smith.
Friends will be received from 11 am to 1 pm, the time of services, on Sunday, February 15, 2026, in the Carl J. Spallino Funeral Home, 819 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi.
Following services, there will be a memorial lunch gathering and balloon release starting at 2 pm at the Charleroi Russian Club.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Liver foundation at liverfoundation.org or to the Washington Area Humane Society at washingtonpashelter.org.
The family is planning a celebration of Kaitlin's life in Beckley at a later date.
