Julia Lynn Ford

Julia Lynn Ford, 50, of Crab Orchard, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 14, 2026. Born on March 31, 1975, Lynn was preceded in death by her parents, Bill Vance Ford and Julia Elizabeth Ford, and her brother, Keith Church.

She is survived by her sisters, Tommie Jo Adkins of Canton, Ohio, and Eloise Ward (Johnathan) of Beaver, West Virginia; her brothers, Raymond Church of Canton, Ohio, and Garland Church of Laurel, Delaware. She also leaves behind her beloved children: Katie Ickes (Austin) of Crab Orchard, Natalie Mills (Caleb), and Mason Ford of Beckley. Also mourning her loss is Carrie Chapman of Shady Spring, who was like a daughter to her, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she loved dearly.

Lynn was a 1994 graduate of Shady Spring High School. She devoted her career to social work, a path that reflected her deep compassion and lifelong desire to help children. If you knew Lynn, you knew how fiercely she loved her kids. Despite enduring immense health struggles, including lifelong kidney disease diagnosed in her early teens, there was nothing she would not do for her children. Her love was unconditional, protective, and endless. Anyone Lynn loved, she loved like family.

Known for her goofy spirit and infectious laughter, Lynn had a rare ability to make people feel instantly safe, accepted, and deeply loved. She had a way of turning even the hardest days into moments of joy. She welcomed others into her life-and her heart-without hesitation, becoming a second mother to many. Years were filled with shared laughter, silliness, and memories that will be treasured forever.

Lynn was nearing placement on the kidney transplant list when she passed suddenly, a loss that feels both cruel and unreal to those who loved her. Her passing came without the chance for goodbyes, leaving hearts heavy with grief. Yet even in death, Lynn's selflessness shone through. She was honored as an organ donor, and in her final act of generosity, she gave others the gift of life-an act that was both heartbreaking and profoundly beautiful.

While we are deeply saddened by this unexpected and tragic loss, we find comfort in God's promises. "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit" (Psalm 34:18). We take peace in knowing that Lynn is now free from pain and suffering, healed and whole in the presence of her Savior. "He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain" (Revelation 21:4).

Today, we remember our beloved Lynn not only for the battles she fought, but for the love she gave, the laughter she shared, and the countless lives she touched. We rejoice in the hope of eternal life, trusting that "to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord" (2 Corinthians 5:8). Her legacy of love lives on through her children, her family, and all who were blessed to be loved by her.

She will be missed beyond words and loved forever.
