Judith Ann Harvey

Judith Ann Harvey, of Beckley, WV went home to be with the Lord on June 16, 2024. She passed away peacefully at Bower’s Hospice House with her daughters by her side.

She was born on July 11, 1947, in Beckley, WV and was the daughter of the late Fred and Beulah Lilly of Beckley, WV.

Judith had a passion for helping others and had a love for teaching children. She received her Master’s in Elementary Education and Administration from WVU. She furthered her education by obtaining plus forty-five hours and principalship. She worked for Raleigh County Schools for 32 years. She worked as a fourth grade teacher at Crab Orchard Elementary and then retired as a fourth and third grade teacher at Coal City Elementary. Her dedication for teaching was admired by all who knew her.

Judith was a member of Memorial Baptist Church of Beckley, WV where she enjoyed teaching Sunday School and working in the nursery.

In her free time, Judith enjoyed many hobbies. She was an avid reader, loved to embroider, sew, walk, enjoyed canning and making others laugh. She also loved going to the beach and dearly loved her animals. Her talents and love for these activities brought joy to her life and those around her.

Judith will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her infant son Mitchell Harvey and her loving husband Herman H. (Buddy) Harvey IV of 57 years.

Judith is survived by her 2 daughters, Rachel Adkins (husband Allen) and Janna Willis (husband Richard), a grandson Brixton Willis, sister, Bonnie Sweeney and brother Danny Lilly all of Beckley, WV. The family also wants to thank her close friends Donna Mullins, Robin Acord, Carolyn Cheese, Diane Loggins, Melissa Kincaid, Nancy Almond and the late Louella Parsons.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 20, 2024, from 4:00 – 6:00 pm at Memorial Baptist Church, 1405 S Kanawa Street, Beckley, WV. Services will be held 12:00 pm, Friday, June 21, 2024 at Calfee Funeral Home, Beckley, WV with Reverand Tim Mitchem officiating. Burial will follow at Calfee Cemetery in Mount Tabor.
