Joyce J. Ballard

Joyce Blackwell Ballard, 89, of Bolt passed away Tuesday evening March 14th, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.

Born June 17, 1933 at Helen, WV, she was the daughter of the late Hubert and Gladys Blackwell. She was a 1950 graduate of Trap Hill High School. A loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend, Joyce dedicated her life to her family and caring for others.

 She was preceded in death by her husband, George and two sisters, Retha (Eugene) Hedgecock, and Nellie (Henry) McGhee.

Survivors include three children, Craig (Angie) of Bolt, Cindy Patrick of Miamisburg OH, and William (Renee) of Beckley; two sisters Eva (Bob) Mattox of Crab Orchard and Wanda (the late Robert) Archer of Easton, MD; three brothers, Robert (Sally) of Lakeland, FL; John (Judy) of Beckley, and Sam of Austin, TX; a grandson who made his home with her, Craig Alan (Buzzy) Ballard, Jr.; seven other grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11am Tuesday March 21, 2023 in the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Vondie Cook, II officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be at 10am.
