Joseph Anderson Wynne

Joseph Anderson Wynne, 68, of Beckley passed away at home on Saturday, March 18, 2023.

Born August 18, 1954 in Princeton, WV, he was the son of the late James Buford Wynne and Geneva Anderson Wynne.

Joe was a graduate of Princeton High School and Concord College. Joe was an employee of WOAY-TV for over 30 years until his retirement. He was a member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church for over 45 years and served faithfully in various positions including deacon, treasurer, Sunday School teacher, and choir. Joe was also involved with Mount Tabor Christian School as treasurer and chairman of the school board.

Joe was gracious to all and well-loved. The word “friend” best describes Joe as he lived out the wisdom of Proverbs 18:24: “A man who has friends must himself be friendly.” He loved learning from and teaching Scripture, especially as related to the imminent return of the Lord Jesus Whom Joe loved and served. Many people benefited from Joe’s knowledge of the Bible and his ability to teach it well. He will be greatly missed but we rejoice that his joy is now complete in the presence of Christ.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Stephen Lee Wynne.

Joe is survived by his wife of 47 years, Pam, with whom he had a loving and devoted marriage. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, 262 Mount Tabor Road, Beckley, WV 25801 with Pastor Michael King officiating. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service.
