Jo Ann Johnson

Jo Ann Johnson age 71 of Stanaford, WV passed away at Charleston Area Medical Center General Division on Saturday, August 26, 2017.
Born March 4, 1946 at Athens, she was the daughter of Robert and Virginia Shumate Lilly, and was raised as a daughter by the late Luther Shumate and Hazel Holdren Shumate. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Franklin Delano Johnson, brother-in-law, Jackie Justice.
She was a homemaker and was of the Church of God faith. In addition to her parents, Jo Ann was preceded in death by siblings Jimmy Lilly, Tommy Shumate, Furley Shumate, Samuel Shumate, Okey Shumate and Darcas Rose.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Vanessa Blevins and husband Larry of Pemberton, James Johnson and life partner Greg Lilly of Beckley and Cindy Rutherford and husband James of Beckley; siblings, Elvira McKinney and husband Clyde of Shady Spring, Rosa Shumate of Sophia, Patty White of Wyco, Danny Lilly and wife Susie of Beckley, Roger Lilly and wife Linda of Pipestem, Stevie Lilly and wife Judy of Pipestem ,Vickie Justice of Midway, Pete Shumate; granddaughter, Jo Anna Ruhterford, great grandsons, A.J. Johnson, “Pip” Rutherford;sister-in-law, Ann Shumate; aunts, Irene Shumate of Hicory, NC, Drema Shumate of Christiansburg, VA along with many other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1pm Saturday, September 2, 2017 in the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Eskins officiating. Burial will follow in Thomas Wayne Shrerwsberry Cemetery at Barkers Ridge. Friends may visit with the family Friday, September 1 from 7-9pm and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
Family will serve as pallbearers.
