Jeffrey David Leach, 64 of Beckley, WV entered the realm of rest on the 27th day of August 2023 at his home. Born in Huntington, West Virginia, he was the son of Eugene and Yvonne H. Leach. He was diagnosed in April with Renal Cell Carcinoma and a nasty tumor he called “Bob”. Medical teams from WVU Mary Babb Randolph Center and BARH Oncology Department gave us hope, but it wasn’t meant to be.
Jeff graduated from Shady Spring High School, Class of 1978 going to work for Industrial Electric, as a fabricator, painter, electrician, and traveler with the finished products. In 1992 he changed his vocation to vending, working for Folz Vending based out of New York State. Continuing that line of work, his last job was as a field technician with Red Box Inc. This job kept him “On the Road Again” and he loved it. Four things in his life made up his world: Eating, Sleeping, Going to Church and Going to Work.
He loved his wife, their life and the four footed children that came to live with them thru out 33 years: Skipper, Molly, Lady Jane, Chessie the Cat, Shadrack and the newest addition: Tinker the Feline.
Jeffrey was a Jack of all Trades with the uncanny ability to fix everything. He always said, “God made me a servant of a “toolbox”. He served well, for if it were broken, he had the talent to fix or repair. Jeff also worked for Calfee Funeral Home as an attendant and love the job. He often said, “If I had known how much enjoyment I received being here, I would have considered it as a vocation.” Many thanks to Dan and Jon for hiring me.” “I have enjoyed being a part of the Calfee Family.”
Jeff attended First Christian Church in Beckley and served in various positions, as a teacher, deacon, elder, property chairman, youth leader, van driver and with his trusty toolbox, keep the church in working order. His last church affiliation was the Sophia Church of God. He made his profession of faith in April 1977 thru the witnessing of a co-worker and read his Bible faithfully. He lived, laughed, and loved.
Jeff was preceded in death by his parents in 2020 and 2022. He is survived by his wife, Becky; his brother, Stephen and wife Heather/Charleston, WV; niece: Louisa Pammer-Leach/Fairmont, WV; special cousin, “Brosky” Michael Helm/Marietta, Ohio; Jeff's pastors: Kenneth and Cheryl Clark and a host of friends.
