James A. Bonham, 74, of Beckley, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 14, 2024.
Born on September 9, 1949, in Beckley, James was the son of the late James and Pauline Cernuto Bonham.
James, affectionately known as Jimmy to his family and friends, had a fulfilling career in the coal industry before following his passion for dog training. He found joy and fulfillment in working with dogs and successfully transitioned into this new field. He always approached his work with dedication and a love for animals.
Committed to both his faith and community, James was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. He also dedicated his time to serving others as a member of the Mt. Hope Lions Club and previously served as an International Teller for the UMWA.
James is survived by his loving wife, Betty Marsh Bonham; his sons, Christopher L Bonham of Tennessee and Bradley S. Bonham of Wichita, Kansas; grandsons, Bradley Bonham II of Clarksburg, West Virginia and Dylan Bonham of Lewisburg, West Virginia; twin sisters Linda Boyd of Columbia, South Carolina and Brenda Willingham of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; and his brother John Bonham of Beckley. Additionally, he is survived by his brothers-in-law Robert Marsh of Beckley and Ashley Marsh of Crab Orchard, West Virginia.
In accordance with Jimmy's wishes, no formal services are planned at this time.
