Irene Columbus Quillen, 91, passed away very peacefully on Saturday, July 20, 2013, with her loving family by her side.
Born October 8, 1921, in Jackhorn, KY, she was the daughter of the late Lum Laxton and Bessie Johnson Laxton Euler. Besides her parents, Irene was also preceded in death by her husband, Guy F. Quillen; her oldest son, Curtis F. Quillen and 6 brothers and 5 sisters.
Irene loved attending to her flower garden, watching the birds and wildlife and enjoyed being outdoors. She also enjoyed the holidays, especially Christmas when family and friend could get together.
Survivors include her son, Robert L. Quillen and wife Linda of Pontiac, MI; daughters, Angela I. Tarr and husband David of Goode, VA and Sharon Nancy Christian and husband Darryl of Montcalm, WV; daughter-in-law, Sandy Quillen of Winifrede, WV; 5 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and her cat and faithful companion, Coda.
The family would like to thank and make special mention to her granddaughter Vickie L. Claypool who loved and faithfully cared for her grandmother unwavering for many years with the support of her husband David Claypool, II and her great grandsons David Claypool, III and Austin McDowell whom she loved very much, who always showed their love by caring, visiting and helping with her care.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at Sunset Memorial Gardens Mausoleum B. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service.
