Harold "Cotton" Welch

Harold “Cotton” Welch, aged 93, of Beckley,  passed away on Tuesday, June4, 2024. He was born on August 26, 1930, in Vancouver, Canada, to the late Bascome Clement and Hettie Inez Snuffer Welch.

Cotton enjoyed a fulfilling career at Verizon before retiring. He was a member of Elks #1452 and the Beckley Moose Lodge. In his leisure time, he found joy in playing basketball, baseball, boating, and golfing.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Virginia Mitchell, and brothers, Benjamin, William, and Raymond Welch. Cotton is survived by his loving wife Shelby; his sons Mark (Jan) of Alexandria, VA, and Kirk (Stacy) of Roanoke, VA; as well as his cherished grandchildren Taylor, Clayton, Samantha; and great-grandchild Nolan.

In accordance with Cotton’s wishes, private services were held to honor his memory.
