Gloria Jane Sweeney

Gloria Jane Sweeney, 90, of Beckley passed away on Thursday, October 25, 2018, following a long battle with cancer.
She was born on August 31, 1928 to the late Ernest Guy and Mamie M. Sweeney. She was also preceded in death by her dear friend Margaret Wood.
Gloria lived in the area all of her life in Helen, Beaver and Beckley. She was a graduate of Mark Twain High School. She was employed by Westmoreland Coal for 32 years. Gloria was a member of Carriage Drive Church of Christ. An avid WVU fan, she enjoyed sports, traveling, reading and working in the yard.
Gloria is survived by an extended family of 4 nieces, Kylene Martin (Jim), Sally Deaner, Lynda Shelton (Harrison) and Donna Sutton (Mark as well as a nephew, Jim Maynor (Brenda).
Per Gloria’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Graveside rites will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with Rev. Jeremy Paschall officiating. If preferred, friends may meet at Calfee Funeral Home by 10:30 a.m. to join the procession to the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to the Raleigh County Humane Society, 325 Grey Flats Rd, Beckley, WV 25801.
