George Orin Gravely, Sr.

George Orin Gravely Sr. passed away on February 5, 2026, following a period of declining health. He was 81 years old.

Born on October 7, 1944, George was the son of the late William and Fern Gravely. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy for four years aboard the USS Laffey. Following his military service, he worked in the shipyards and later for General Motors while raising his family in Ohio. In later years, he moved to West Virginia, where he spent the remainder of his life.

George was a true jack of all trades. He had a talent for painting cars, carpentry, and gardening, and there was little he couldn’t fix or build. Known for his kind heart and generous spirit, George was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Above all, he loved his family deeply and took great pride in each of them.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Millie Stoots; his children, George Gravely Jr. of Connelly Springs, North Carolina; Cristal Blake (Kevin) of Connelly Springs, North Carolina; and Debra Frank of Eccles, West Virginia.

He is also survived by his siblings: Margaret Burford; Carol Davidson of Ohio; and Belva Toliver (Jimmy) of Virginia.

George leaves behind many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. West Virginia grandchildren: Dustin Daniel (Amelia) of Beckley, WV; Christopher Daniel (Angie) of Bob White, WV; and Kahra John (Andy) of Oak Hill, WV. West Virginia great-grandchildren: Elijah Daniel, Liam Daniel, Carmen Daniel, Tanner John, Dalton John and Logan

North Carolina grandchildren: J.A. Cooper, Zane Blake, and Alexus Blake. North Carolina great-grandchildren: Hayley Blake, Haven Church, and Mahalla Mullins. All of Connelly Springs, North Carolina.

He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Teresa Combs (Larry) of Kernersville, North Carolina, and their sons, Travis and Cody. His Devoted Best Friend, Allen Lucas of Eccles, West Virginia.

George will be remembered for his hardworking nature, his many skills, his willingness to help others, and the deep love he had for his family. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

The family is planning a memorial service at a later date.
