Gelilah Parrish Barksdale passed away on May 6, 2021. Born on September 6, 1947. She was the fifth of seven children born to Avery and Elizabeth Parrish of Ward, SC. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers, Avery and Dock Parrish, her sister-in-law, Peggy Parrish (Dock), and niece Stephanie Meadows. She leaves behind her husband of 51 ½ years, David Barksdale, their children, Brantley, Stacey and Ty, their grandchildren, Eliza Jane and Channing Coulter, Ella and Finn Price, and Marcy, Dayson and Vivi Barksdale. She also leaves behind her sisters, Sarah Johnson (Curtis), Alice Parrish, Doris Shelley (Perry), Kaye Pazderski (Steve) and sister-in-law,
Raye Parrish (Avery), as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was an active member of Beckley First Baptist Church, an avid reader and a Master Gardener and, most of all, the best cheerleader for her husband and children. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service.
