Elsie Covey

Elsie Naomi Covey, born on January 5, 1938, in Eccles, West Virginia, passed away on January 9, 2026. She is survived by her loving husband, Jack Covey, her sons Tim Covey and Jack Covey, Jr., and daughter-in-law Debbie Covey, her daughters Kathy Entinger and son-in-law David Entinger, Lindsay Christian, her son-in-law David Mullens, and her sister Eva Windsor, 19 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren and friend Tim Gwinn.

Elsie was a dedicated educator, having earned her Bachelor's Degree and devoted much of her life to teaching within the Raleigh County Schools. Her passion for education inspired countless students, and her commitment to their learning left a lasting impact.

In addition to her career, Elsie had a variety of interests that brought joy and fulfillment to her life. She was an avid reader, always diving into books that sparked her curiosity and imagination. Her love for gardening allowed her to cultivate beautiful flowers and vegetables, making her home a cherished haven of nature. She also enjoyed sewing, which showcased her creativity and attention to detail.

Above all, Elsie cherished spending time with her children and grandchildren. The memories created during gatherings, holidays, and everyday moments will forever be treasured by her family.

Services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at Beckley Regular Baptist Church with Pastor Ken Smith officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until service time. The community is invited to come together to celebrate the life of a remarkable woman who was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
