She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1952. She went on to marry the love of her life, Freddy Clyde Worrells. Though Freddy passed at a young age, they were blessed with three sons: Randall, Richard, and Robert.

While at Beckley College, she continued her education, pursuing a master’s degree and, lastly, a doctoral degree. She moved to Dunbar, WV, to pursue a teaching opportunity at West Virginia State University, where she retired as vice president of academic affairs. She served in many roles at the university, such as the WVSCTC representative to the Institutional Board of Advisors and was active in WVSCTC as well as working for many years with Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society.

Moving back to Beckley, WV, Edie continued to enjoy retirement. She especially had a love of line dancing and joined a group that performed together. She also loved traveling to the beach, working in the fresh air, and visiting with family.

Edie is survived by her sons: Randall, Richard (Melody), and Robert (Debbie). Her grandchildren are Stephanie Ross (Andrew), Megan Marohl (Doug), Mendy Helvey (Michael), Kevin Worrells (Brianne), Tyler Worrells (Amanda), and Sydney Bowman (Ethan).
