Doris Alma Gallagher

Doris Alma Martin Gallagher, 97, of Ghent, WV., passed away July 20 th after a long illness. She was the daughter of Leamon (Slim) Martin and Irene J. Martin, both deceased. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent O’Connell (Connell) Gallagher. She was also preceded in death by three sons, Charles Thomas Gallagher, Joseph Lawrence Gallagher, Vincent O’Connell Gallagher II, a sister, June Marie Martin, and great granddaughter Rowan Quinn Baker. She is survived by one son, Michael M. Gallagher of Barboursville, WV, and two daughters, Rita C. Gallagher of Scott Depot, WV, and Martha A.(Wayne) Baker, of Beckley, 8 grandchildren: Andrew (Amber) Jones, Amanda (Jason) Harmon, Daniel Jones, Phillip Baker, Adell (Richard)Cates, Thomas Jones, Anne Baker, and Antonio Jones, and 6 great grandchildren: Michael Cates, Violet Cates, Caleb Jones, Hattie Harmon, Molly Harmon and Emily Harmon.
Doris was a loving wife and mother and a life-long member of Saint Francis de Sales Catholic Church and married in the original wooden structure in 1946. After raising her children Doris worked as a secretary for Raleigh County schools. She enjoyed traveling throughout her life and loved sharing her lake home with her children and grandchildren. She will be deeply missed.
A funeral liturgy will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church at 12 pm Thursday, July 23, 2020 with Very Rev. Paul Wharton, V.F. officiating. A Rite of Committal will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to services on Thursday.
