Darla Jean Sowder

Darla Davis Sowder passed away at her home of congestive heart failure.

Born February 18, 1963, in Chicago, IL. Darla was the daughter of Barbara Berry Brooks and Marquis Brooks Jr. (Pops).

Growing up in Prosperity, Darla attended Woodrow Wilson High School. She enjoyed travelling to various beaches, fishing and spending time with her family, friends, and cats. 

In addition to her parents Darla is also survived by brothers, Greg Davis (Pam) of Cool Ridge and Charles (Chuck) Lyons Jr of Prosperity, stepsisters Kim Brooks (Mark Muldrew) of Roanoke, Al, Elaine Brooks Sanda (Mike) of Columbus, GA and two nieces Haley Dawn Davis and Casey Marie Sanda, numerous aunts and uncles, her brother cat Bud and her cat Geisha.

She was preceded in death by grandparents Ira and Mae Berry, one uncle and her beloved dog Beetle.

Darla was known in her family for her love of cats. In lieu of flowers please consider donations to Kristi Fernatt Community Cat TNR program 806 Sims Mountain Rd, Meadow Bridge, WV 25976.

Services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 25, 2022 in the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Doug Holley officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit the family from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Thursday.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
