Charles Thomas Darlington

Charles Thomas Darlington, 78, of Beckley, WV, passed away on August 19, 2026 at CAMC after a fall.

Born in Powellton, WV on September 3, 1947, Charlie graduated from West Virginia Institute of Technology. He taught English for 7 years in Raleigh County, and was a paramedic and EMT for Raleigh Ambulance. He served as Raleigh County Deputy Sheriff for 29.5 years and worked several security jobs after retiring. Charlie liked steam trains, pets, history, storytelling, books, crossword and sudoku puzzles, and his family.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas V. and Macel Darlington, infant daughter Cheryl and infant son Robert. He is survived by Linda, his wife of 57 years; son Jeffrey and daughter-in-law Keri; daughter Lisa; grandson, Benjamin; and his dogs.

He will be remembered for his life of service to the community and the long-lasting friendships he maintained.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations to Laela's Hope Cat Rescue, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, or the March of Dimes.

A memorial service will be held at Calfee Funeral Home in Beckley, WV on August 23, 2026, at 4 pm, with Rev. Deb Minor officiating. Friends are welcome to visit with the family from 3 pm until the service.
