Carolyn Sue (Plumley) (Brown) Stanley July 11, 1941 – August 3, 2025

Carolyn Sue Stanley, age 84, passed on August 3, 2025. Born in Boomer, West Virginia, to Violet Naomi (Patton) Plumley and Boomer Ray Plumley, Sue was proud of her West Virginia family roots and the values they instilled in her.

A 1959 graduate of Gauley Bridge High School, Sue pursued secretarial studies at Capitol Business College and later completed a degree in Court Stenography in Hackensack, NJ in 1980. With her training and entrepreneurial spirit, she returned to Beckley and established the successful Brown Reporting Agency in 1981, where she served the legal community with integrity and professionalism until her retirement in 2024.

Sue is survived by her husband, Harry David Stanley.

She is lovingly remembered by her three children:

• Samuel Elbert Brown, II MD (Jennifer), Ponte Vedra Beach, FL.
• Matthew Stewart Brown, Esq. (Ellena), Ponte Vedra Beach, FL.

She was a proud grandmother to:

• Eric Markert, 42, East Stroudsburg, PA (Jean Brown)
• Dr. Lauren Brown-Faraj (Dr. Kamel Faraj), 26, Westland, MI (Sam and Jennifer)
• Mason Brown, 22, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL (Sam and Jennifer)
• Rileigh Brown, 20, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL (Sam and Jennifer)
• Cameron Brown, 23, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL (Matt and Ellena)
• Taylor Brown, 20, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL (Matt and Ellena)

Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren:

• Evelyn Piper Markert, 3 (David and Tammy)
• Eden Blair Markert, 2 (David and Tammy)
• Sebastian Garrett Markert, 4 months (David and Tammy)
• Isabella Marie Markert, 17 (Eric)

Sue is also survived by her brother, Ronald Ray Plumley of Brandon, FL, and her sister, Barbara Boyd (Duffy) of Fayetteville, WV.
