Buster James Hampton

Buster James “Jim” Hampton, 70, of Crab Orchard, WV passed away on Monday, September 26, 2022. Born December 4, 1951 to the late Buster and Violet Hampton of MacArthur, WV.

 Mr. Hampton was a retired Explosive/Blaster with 20+ years of service. He was also a Coal Miner at Beckley Coal Mining and was a part-time Farmer on his Farm in Sweet Springs, Monroe County, WV.

  Jim was a loving husband, a wonderful Father, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather.  Jim loved spending time with his family and friends, and was known for his sense of humor and kindness. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 53 years who he met in 1968 at the MacArthur Skating Rink, Yuconda “Connie” Fitzpatrick Hampton; three children, Cassandra D. Tayloe and husband Robert of King, NC; Buster “James” Hampton II and wife Melody of Coal City, WV; Robert G. Hampton and wife Melissa of Pageland, SC.  Three grandchildren, Avery L. Hammond III of King, NC; Brandon J. Hampton of Coal City, WV; Nick Hildreth of Pageland, SC.  One great-grandson Nicky Hildreth of Pageland, SC.  Also, a sister V. Marie Collins, of Beckley, WV.   Numerous nieces, cousins and nephew.

 Jim is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jerry and Honnie Polk; paternal grandparents, Isaac and Rowena Hampton; brother-in-law Billy Collins; brother-in-law Robert Koger and sister-in-law Darlene Koger.  His two loving dogs Trixie and Travis.

 Jim loved his farm and enjoyed every day he could spend on it.  He was a family man that loved his family especially when it involved a good clean card game.  Anywhere you would see Jim you certainly would see Connie, Trixie and Travis.   Jim spent his last few months helping his son James restarting the farm in Crab Orchard, building fences and stocking cattle.

 All that knew and loved Jim is welcome to join the Family on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at 11 am with funeral service at 1pm at Calfee Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Rumberg. officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Beckley.

Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.  In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Bowers Hospice House of Southern WV at 454 Cranberry Dr, Beckley, WV 25801 in Jim’s memory.
