Annice Byrd Wood, 99, of Beaver, passed through the Golden Gates, November 23, in her home. She was born on July 23, 1926, in Mullins, West Virginia. She was the daughter of Anthony and Mary Eta Tolliver Byrd.
Annice retired from the Raleigh County Armory and she and a group of women planted the lovely rhododendron bushes at Grandview State Park that bloom every year and are admired and enjoyed by many that visit the park to this day. She enjoyed gardening, canning, family and friends. She was a member of Grandview Christian Church.
Annice was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Kermit Wood, her brothers Claude and Elvie Byrd and sisters Ada Farmer, Ina Wren, and Nila Renick and a daughter in law Jane Wood. She is survived by her son Jeff Wood and his wife Cynthia of Grandview, and Jim Wood of Weston; she had several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to her caregivers Marceline Price and Norma Reedy, who took excellent care of her. Funeral service will be Monday, December 1st, 2025 at Grandview Christian Church, 185 Table Rock Road, Beaver, West Virginia with Pastor Jordan Legg, officiating. Visitation of friends is from 12:30 to 1:30 service will follow. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Don Allen, Jay Anderson, David Harvey, Chris Wills, Sam Smith and Micah Smith.
