William G. Elkin

William G. Elkin, II, 71 of Cool Ridge, passed away Tuesday, August 10, 2021.
Born in Beckley on October 12, 1949, he was the son of the late William G. and Wanda Ora Lewis Elkin.
Bill served as a chief electronics technician for West Virginia State Police Company D with 39 years of service. He was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church. He enjoyed scuba diving, hunting, ham radios and flying model helicopters. Bill loved being in the company of others. He served with the National Guard.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly Darlene Osborne Elkin; daughter, Heather Michelle Sturgill (Jeffery Allen) of Beckley; granddaughter, Natalie Michelle Sturgill; sister, Cynthia Rumberg (David) of Beckley and sisters-in-law, Gail Evans (Frank) and Beth Stafford (Gary).
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 14, 2021, in the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Bob Stoddard and Pastor David Rumberg officiating. Burial will follow in the Salem Cemetery at Cool Ridge. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service.
The West Virginia State Police will serve as pallbearers
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hope in the Mountains, P.O. Box 1675, Sophia, WV 25921.
