Wesley Monroe Adams, Jr., 69, of Coal City, peacefully left this world December 3, 2013.
Wesley was born March 18, 1944 to the late Wesley Monroe, Sr. and Arzula Bays Adams. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Houck and Reva Basham; two nephews, Buddy and Bimbo Houck and one niece, Teresa Blankenship.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Louise Blankenship Adams; 3 children and 11 grandchildren: Tammy Burton and her daughter Kelsey, who he helped raise, of Coal City, Kevin and his wife Jenifer and their 6 children, Noah, Hannah, Sara, Sam, Noelle and Jesse of Coal City, Nathan and his wife Karen and their 4 children Hannah, Gracie, Natalie and Nate of Shady Spring; special nephew, Luke Houck of Mabscott; 4 brothers, Clyde Adams, Dempsey Adams and his wife Donna of Epperly Hill, Ernest Adams and his wife Norene of Coal City and Willie Dean of Fayette County; sister, Patricia Fink and her husband Gary of Kodak, TN and a host of nieces and nephews.
Wesley enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, hunting, fishing, camping and sports. He was the assistant softball coach at Woodrow Wilson High School for many years. He also coached Little League baseball, girls softball and midget league football. Wesley was a 1962 graduate of Stoco High School. Wesley was a member of the Old Regular Baptist Church in Bud, WV and was saved and baptized in October of 2013.
A committal service will be 11a.m., Saturday at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens where burial will follow. Friends may visit with the family on Friday from 6-8p.m. at Calfee Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Luke Houck, Wayne Houck, Steve Adams, Kent Adams, Robert Phillips and Mark Grim. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons.
The family would like to send a special thank you to Dr. Kimberly Ballard and Dr. Amy Brown of Access Health in Daniels and the staff at the Bowers Hospice House in Prosperity.
