Sergio “Joe” Bettina, 90, of Beckley passed away Sunday, July 7, 2019.
Born in Beckley on December 30, 1928, he was the son of the late Joseph and Maria Bettina.
In addition to his parents Joe was preceded in death by his loving wife and friend of 58 years, Betty Ruth; son, Joseph; daughter, Tammy Jo and sister, Bruna.
Joe attended public schools in Beckley and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, class of 1946.
Joe was involved in the construction business for over 40 years. He was president and general manager of several companies including Bettina Construction Co, B&B Excavating, Inc., Pavex, Inc. and Raleigh Stone Co., Inc.
Joe and Ruth were avid fishing and hunting companions and enjoyed fishing and boating at Flat Top Lake and Hunting on their Monroe County property.
He is survived by his precious daughter and best friend Cynthia Jo Griffith and her husband James of Beckley; special granddaughter Kimberly Gross and her son Bo of Grandview and granddog Little Joe.
Services will be 1 pm Wednesday, July 10, 2019 in the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Keith Manning officiating. He will be laid to rest beside his wife Ruth and children in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family from 11 am until service time.
Pallbearers will be John Gwinn, Danny Smith, Oscar Vecellio, Jennings Martin, Curtis Thomas, Jeff Golden, Ralph Darlington.
