Sadie Mae Wender

Sadie Mae Ray Wender, 100, of Beckley, passed away Monday, June 27, 2011 in a Beckley hospital. Born September 26, 1910 in Huntington, WV, she was the daughter of the late Standard and Helen Ray. Sadie was a retired music teacher for the Raleigh County Board of Education. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and Beckley Woman’s Club and had been a resident of Beckley since 1953. She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Hyman Wender.

Survivors include her daughter, Vicki Wender Patterson and husband William of Lebanon, OH; sister-in-law, Mrs. Morris Wender of Oak Hill, WV; nephew, Matthew Wender of Oak Hill, WV; neices, Karen Nicole Wender Downing of Indianapolis, IN, Lynda Wender Mortimer of Fulson, CA, Michael Wender Zak of Oakland, CA and special friends, Buck and Betty Curtis and family of Beckley.

Following her wishes she will be cremated. There will be no visitation or service.
