Russell Lee Floyd

May 11, 1921 — March 2, 2011

Russell Lee Floyd, 89, of Beckley went to be with his Lord on March 2, 2011 at the Hospice House in Cranberry surrounded by his family and special caregivers. He fought a courageous battle with COPD and remained strong in his faith throughout the illness.
Born May 11, 1921 at Holleytown, he was the son of the late Eugene and Dora Wilson Floyd.

Russell spent most of his life in Raleigh County and was a resident of Beckley. He retired as a maintenance contractor from the Beckley Hospital in 1996. Russell was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

In addition to his parents, Russ was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.

Those left to cherish his memories include his wife, Etheline “Dean”, their son Rocky and wife Becky, Granddaughters, Christi Meador and husband Jeff Meador and children Andrew, Evan, Bella and Chiana of Shady Spring and Mechelle Scott and husband Brian Scott and children Briana and Joselyn of Beckley and sister Margie Crowder and brother James Floyd and numerous cherished nieces and nephews

The Funeral Service will begin at 2:00 p.m. on March 5, 2011 at the Calfee Funeral Home with Reverend Vondie Cook officiating. Friends may visit with the family from noon until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.

Pallbearers will be Danny Wright, Gary Queen, Michael Queen, Jared Fox, Brian Scott and Jeff Meador.

The family of Russell Floyd would like to give a special thanks to all of the caregivers and nurses at the Bower’s Hospice House.

Russell was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and a special friend to all those who knew him, he will be missed greatly by all of his family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bower’s Hospice House, 454 Cranberry Drive, Beckley, WV.
