Robert Ronald “Red” Sexton, 65, of Marion, VA, passed away at his residence.
Monday, January 2, 2012. He was born in Fireco, WV to the late Stanley Edward and Dora Marie Adkins Sexton. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Ginger Marie Johnson of Chatsworth, GA, a brother, Roy Lee Sexton, a niece as he called her Robin “Bird” Hale, four nephews, Randy and Keith bailey, Nick Sexton and Timothy sexton.

He is survived by four sons, Joe Sexton and wife Gayle of Chatsworth, GA, Robert “Little Ronnie” Prince of Daniels, WV, Archie Wayne “Buddy” Sexton and wife Gwen of Chatsworth, GA, and a son with Barbara Sexton, Christopher Sexton of Beckley, a daughter, Christina Satterfield and husband Gregory of Marion, VA, four granddaughters, Stephanie, Aleisha, Lodema and Victoria, three grandsons, William, Nathaniel and a very special Dylan, two great grandchildren, four brothers, Fleet “Buddy” Sexton of Jonben, WV, Jackie Sexton and wife Mary of Grandview, WV, Dennis Sexton and wife Kathy of Jonben, WV and his caretaker and best friend and brother, Gregory Steve Sexton of Marion, five sisters, Peggy McCallister and husband Buddy of Beckley, Brenda Joan Hale of Coal City, Connie Fitzwater and husband Edsel of Grandview, Lynn Perdue of Coal City and Carolyn Perdue and husband Lester of Coal City, a special lifelong friend, Patty Mills Adkins and husband Eldon of Pilot Mt., NC.

He had a special bond with all of his nieces and nephews. He was a mentor to his nephew Barry Sexton and with his advice and superior knowledge in the road construction business he helped him in every way that led to owning a successful business. Red worked in the coal mines a short time and later made a career sawing and sealing concrete. He worked for Eaton Construction and later became general superintendent for Aikens Sawing and Sealing, Inc., Monticello, GA, He was a member of the VFW and a member of the Moose Lodge in Smyth Co., VA. “Red” was one of a kind and a true legend in the sawing and sealing business. He will be sadly missed.

Friends may visit with the family from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, January 7, 2012 at the Calfee Funeral Home, Beckley. Following his wishes he will be cremated.
