Marion Lee Lilly, 68, of Mabscott, passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2014. Born June 7, 1946 in Raleigh County, he was the son of the late Fred Carl and Frances Barnett Lilly. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a grandson, Elijah Lee Cox.
Marion was a manager for the Boone Raleigh PSD. He was a member of the Mabscott Christian Baptist Church, VFW and Lions Club. He loved his church and church family. Marion was a U.S. Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy Pettry Lilly; son, Danny Lilly of Mabscott; daughter, Amy Cox of Mabscott; grandchildren, Paige Cox, Isaiah Cox, Kadie Jo “Bird” Cox; son-in-law, Allen Cox; brothers, Kenneth and Teddy Lilly; sisters, Jane Cart-Ellison, Frances Coleman, Mary Lilly and his best friend Dog-Cucumber.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Sunday, June 15, 2014 in the Calfee Funeral Chapel with Pastor Doug Holley officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Sunday at the funeral home. Everyone is encouraged to dress casually.
Pallbearers will be John Sweeney, William Perkins, David Phelps, Allen Cox and T.J. Harvey. Honorary Pallbearer will be Justin Harvey.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the family to assist with expenses.
