Margaret D. Wood

Margaret Dorine Wood, 92, of Beckley passed away Sunday, February 9, 2014. She was a life-long resident of the Beckley area and spent winters in Florida for several years.
She was born on October 30, 1921. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and was a member of the Carriage Drive Church of Christ. Margaret worked 40 years for Smith & Stover Coal Co. She enjoyed traveling, reading, watching sports, and in her younger days she loved to roller skate.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Jospeh P. and Lottie Wood; two brothers, Buck and Kyle; two half sisters, Lola Maynor and Pearl Spangenberg.
She is survived by her close friend and care-giver Gloria Sweeney; special nephew Jim Maynor (Brenda); nieces Kylene Martin (Jim), Sally and Jan Deaner, Lynda Shelton (Harrison); Donna Jo Sutton (Mark); and several other nieces and nephews.
Per Margaret’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Graveside rites will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 13, 2014 at Sunset Memorial Park with Jim Wilson officiating. Friends who would like to attend may gather at Calfee Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. Thursday to join the procession to the cemetery.
