Lynne Stewart Godby

With perfect sight and great stride Lynne “Stewart” Godby, 52, of Beckley, WV, walked through the gates of Heaven, Sunday, August 11, 2013. Lynne was born to the late Millard and Juanita Stewart on September 4, 1960 at King’s Daughter’s Hospital in Ashland, KY. From childhood she possessed a spunk that rivaled even the most colorful of characters. An adventurous spirit pushed Lynne to discover all of the best things in life.
A former employee of Petroleum Products, Lynne’s position as internal auditor met her need for a challenge, and fulfilled her undying urge to learn more. A lover of music, she would raise her arms and wave them freely to any tune. Fond of shopping, her family and friends were most often the benefactors of her spending. The desire to explore compelled her to travel often, always returning ready for the next journey. Destroyer of dullness, her mischievous sense of humor was echoed by an unmistakable laugh.
Lynne was preceded in death by her ex-husband Lee Godby. She is survived by her son Dustin Godby and wife Belinda of Cool Ridge, WV; three brothers, Larry Stewart and wife Diane of Port St. Lucie, FL, Doug Stewart and wife Shirley of Ashland, KY, Michael Stewart and wife Deanna of Burnsville, WV; one sister Sandra Wood and husband Michael of Shady Spring, WV; nephews Larry Stewart, II, and Joseph Stalka and nieces Kim Conley, Cheryl Davis, Dawn Matherly, April Massie, and Brittany Stewart. She is also survived by seven great nephews, four great nieces, one great-great nephew, one great-great niece, and a special family friend John Grose.
There will be a celebration to honor the life of Lynne Godby at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 16, 2013 in the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel, 800 S. Oakwood Ave., Beckley, WV with Pastor Jesse Farley officiating. Friends may visit with the family from noon until service time on Friday.
