Lillian Elleen Ward

Lillian Elleen Ward died on February 24, 2012 following a long illness. She was born on March 15, 1924 in Montgomery County, Virginia. Her parents were the late Carl James and Minnie Sue Hughes Elliott. She grew up in Prices Fork, Virginia where she met her husband the late William K. Ward Sr. She was employed by the Radford Arsenal in Radford, Virginia during the Second World War. In August of 1945 she and her husband moved to Glen Morgan, WV where she raised a family and worked hand in hand with her husband William K. Ward Sr. in his construction business. Ms. Ward was a member of Tilden Community Church of Glen Morgan, WV. She was an excellent cook, enjoyed spending time with her family and loved growing her beautiful flowers. In August of 2011 she became a resident of Summers Nursing and Rehab Center. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Karen E. Wheeler, a brother James Elliott and sisters Juanita Hurt and Helen Taylor.

Left to cherish her memory is a daughter Brenda Murrell and husband Robert Miller Murrell of Hinton, WV, two sons William K Ward Jr and wife LaFonda of Beaver, WV and Carl David Ward and wife Linda of Mt. Airy, NC. and son-in-law John Wheeler. Also left to cherish her memory are grandchildren Robin Stewart and husband Robert, Chris Ward and wife Kim, Sonya Murrell and companion Mike Gore, Joleen Linville and husband Shannon, Shawn Wheeler and wife Stephanie, Rick Wheeler and wife April, and Darleen Bennett and companion Jeff Kinstded, Carl Wayne Ward and wife Augusta, Mark Anthony Ward and wife Deeann, and Eric Kyle Ward and wife Carrie. Great Grand Children –Megan Rice and husband George, Andrew Stewart and wife Stephanie, Samantha Bennett, Kaelin Ward,Gavin Bryce Ward, Jaime Ward, Karen Ann Ward, Ashton Ward, Hank Ward, Christian Ward, Hannah Ward, Jaden Linville, Mason Linville and Isabella Wheeler. Two great-great grandchildren, Parker Rice and Lillian Stewart.

Services will be 2:0 p.m. Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at Calfee Funeral Home in Beckley, WV with Pastor Rick Metrick officiating. Burial will follow in the Tilden Community Cemetery. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday.

Pallbearers will be Grandsons and Honorary Pallbearers will be Andrew Stewart, Ashton Ward and Christian Ward.
